Hi ya’ll! I’m Jennifer and I am so happy you are joining me today! My husband Nathan and I, along with our two children Caven and Alice, are navigating life together and finding how necessary being together is. Gosh, I just feel so blessed to be able to invite ya’ll in with me to draw closer to the heart of God through the daily grind. Isn’t He just so good? As a stay at home mom to a teenager and a special needs child I can get so busy, distracted, and at times overwhelmed. From day to day duties in the home, band practices, football games, doctors appointments, special therapies for Alice, along with being the heart of my home, the list can feel like it never ends. Business can make us mamas have that much needed sense of purpose. I know that I, personally, feel my most accomplished when I’m so busy with this or that, that I barely have the time to feed myself in between the daily hustle and bustle. But what if I challenged the idea that business is good? Look with me at one of my favorite lessons in the Bible. It’s found in Luke 10: 38-41. To give some context, this story takes place during Jesus’ travels during His ministry on this earth. He goes to the home of His close friend, Lazarus, and his two sisters Mary and Martha. Starting in verse 39 “She (Martha) had a sister named Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet and was listening to what He said. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks and sahe came up and asked, ‘Lord, don’t You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.’ The Lord answered her, ‘Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice and it will not be taken from her.” Have you ever felt that way? Like we are just so busy today, so frazzled and frustrated? Meditate on this lesson with me this month and lets remind ourselves that there’s no better place to find our purpose than at the feet of Jesus, because that (time and choice) can never be taken from us!
